About the WBA

The people & history behind the Woburn Business Association

The Woburn Business Association has done nothing short of a tremendous job over the last 32 years.

The WBA is a nonprofit organization that helps businesses and its members negotiate the public forums, public agencies and overcome the plights of dealing with public officials. Our leadership and board members speak on behalf of current members as well as businesses coming into the community to help them navigate the politics, procedures and town departments they will be confronted with.

The WBA holds many networking events throughout the year which is a great way for new people and businesses to meet each other. We encourage any business that offers a service or product to the City of Woburn to join us even if you do not live in or have an office in the city.

Whether you’re a large corporation like Dave and Busters or a small “mom and pop” shop just starting up, the Woburn Business Association is a great organization to join. Their support of your business is just what you need, and we hope to be a partner with them for many years to come.

Why Join?

The WBA will help any business, group or person with answers to any question they may have.  We can provide the best information regarding legal representation and engineering issues in the community. Most of our involvement is finding an answer to a question or solving a problem raised by a business in connection with one of the many agencies in the city. We bring elected officials around to the businesses to familiarize them with how each business’s service or product helps the town. We approach each issue with common sense and review it from both sides and try to find a solution that is best not only for the business, but the community as well.

Being a member of the WBA means supporting a vibrant, locally-focused community but, most importantly, means having an ally when it comes to complex legal and bureaucratic issues that can impede the growth or success of your business.

Our Formation

Approximately 30 years ago, the Chamber of Commerce decided it wanted to regionalize and serve not just Woburn but also neighboring cities and towns. However, a group of Woburn businessmen decided they wanted to serve strictly Woburn, thereby forming the Woburn Business Association (WBA).

The Board of Directors reserves the right to approve each business that applies but we encourage multiple types of business to join, unlike many boards that only allow one of each type of business on its roster. The more businesses that are part of the association, the stronger we are and the more we  can accomplish, not only for businesses but for the City as a whole.
